We are currently searching for a Director of HR - Operations for our Hackensack, NJ Location. Partnering directly with our CEO and our Director of Talent Acquisition to build and expand the HR Operations function, you will contribute at both a hands-on and strategic levels as the organization grows and scales. The ideal candidate is a true generalist and thrives in high growth environments building, evolving people, culture, and HR programs and processes. In this role, you will roll up your sleeves with a "no task too small" mentality while also thinking strategically about the broader needs of the company.. This role will be hands on in building and executing across many functional areas of HR such as Training and Development, Performance Management and Operations.

  • Serves as a point of contact to team members, answering questions and helping employees navigate all aspects of People & Culture operations, including topics such as performance management, compensation, benefits, training & development, work/life, employee perks, company policies, etc.
  • Serves as an adviser to our management team to understand business needs and proactively identifying gaps in communication or process and procedure
  • Provide support, guidance and coaching to managers relating to employee relations, performance management and training and development
  • Manage internal benefits alongside the 3rd party provider
  • Assist employees with basic questions, benefits escalations, PTO, and Leave of Absence
  • Partner with managers across the organization and proactively diagnose and anticipate trends around people issues. Facilitate change/ solutions that will enable the successful completion of business objectives.
  • Work with Culture team and business leaders to ensure that employee initiatives are in line with and reinforce our company's culture and core values.
  • Engage with employees on cultural initiatives and day to day process development and improvement to provide a work environment conducive to success
  • In partnership with the leadership team, drive the execution of all components of the employee life cycle from goal setting, performance management, compensation planning, promotions and internal movements and exits, with a consistent focus on building a high-performing culture of growth and development through effective leadership, communication and feedback.
  • Overseeing the organization of regular events and coming up with new, innovative, and social ways to directly enrich the day-to-day of our employees.
  • Manage a diverse set of company-wide HR projects and initiatives as assigned including employee engagement events
    • Contribute to the development of a robust professional development plan for employees, including in-house staff trainings, external trainings, mentorship opportunities, standard guidelines and practices for supervisors to engage with employees around professional development needs, and a system for evaluating impact of professional development activities.
    • Assist with the development and coordination of Learning and Development initiatives
    • Design, deliver and evaluate learning and development initiatives internally and support with the coordination of external training
    • Coach and develop Line Managers to ensure that they are given all the tools they need to manage their team effectively
    • Delivering high-impact training programs.
      • Lead the company in the performance management process, including: annual training and support for managers regarding effectively delivering feedback and mitigating bias in performance review process, management of goal setting process, mechanisms for employee feedback of managers, development of follow up and accountability structures, and more.
      • Act as a coach and partner to leaders to strengthen skills regarding performance coaching, handling difficult conversations, get well plans and general employee relations (in compliance with local laws).
      • Develop proactive strategies to help employees perform to their highest potential and support managers in their efforts to coach and counsel their teams.
      • Assist Managers and Business Leaders with the annual review process
      • Ensure People initiatives, policies and processes are implemented in line with the company ethos and direction
      • Provide updates on all changes to employment law, which affects the company and its employees, and ensures that company policies are kept in line with these.
      • Advise leaders on a variety of topics, including organization design, benefits selection,
      • Ensure we continue to have the right mix of benefits and perks in place as we scale up.
      • Provide data & insights to facilitate holistic business decisions - i.e. turnover stats, employee survey results, compensation analysis, etc. - to guide business leaders decisions & actions resulting in high levels of engagement & productivity
      • Improve alignment of performance management, compensation, organizational development initiatives
      • Maintain Employee Handbook and regularly revise policies and procedures with Executive Management.
        • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
        • 3-5 years experience in People Operations; preferably in fast growing companies
        • Experience working in a boutique or start up environment
        • Able to manage and deliver HR programs in an entrepreneurial and creative culture.
        • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to interact with a wide variety of personalities under varied circumstances.
        • Great can-do attitude combined with a strong work ethic.
        • Proven track record within multiple HR disciplines: employee relations, training and development and performance management.
        • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
        • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
        • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
        • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
        • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
        • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
        • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with self-discipline and results-driven mindset
        • Proficient in GSuite and related software
        • Outstanding people leadership skills
        • Ability to build credibility at all levels of the organization
        • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and judgment; ability to make sound decisions independently; solutions-oriented
        • Strong analytical and project management skills, proven ability to design and communicate clear processes, and a detail-oriented yet flexible approach to problem solving
        • Impeccable discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information
