Job Overview:
The Executive Director, Business Development will be responsible
for leading global business development activities for Champions
Biomarker Solution services. As part of Champions Commercial
Leadership Team, the Executive Director, Business Development will
contribute to the definition and execution of the growth strategy,
will influence the expansion of Champions Biomarker portfolio while
strengthening the awareness of Champions brand within the
translational and clinical oncology space. Champions oncology is a
fast-paced and rapidly growing technology driven research services
organization, that provides high complexity and high quality
end-to-end analytical solutions to biopharma organizations. Duties
and responsibilities:
- Operate as an executive member of the business development team
and collaborates cross-functionally to build a deep understanding
of customer needs and Champions Biomarker Solutions value
proposition
- Develop strategic and tactical plans to expand Champions market
penetrance within the translational and clinical space
- Expand Champions Biomarker pipeline and customer base with an
emphasis on closing high value sales opportunities.
- Demonstrate strong consultative selling, ability to design
complex and tailored solutions, and proven capabilities to close
sales
- Mentor and develop less senior Biomarker business development
team members by coaching and provide guidance in developing account
target plans, qualifying, managing opportunities and maximizing
likelihood of success
- Constantly work on strategic and tactical plans to decrease
sale cycle times and increase win rates
- Meet or exceed annual sales booking targets
- Maintain consistent dialogue with operations and finance to
develop and refine proposals, and to provide regular feedback into
new product development and operational excellence
- Work to build a strong awareness of the Champions Biomarker
Solutions through participation at professional conferences,
symposia and strong partnership with the Commercial Leadership
Team
- Actively participate in near- and long-term commercial planning
with executive leadership
- Analyze sales data to develop insights and identifies
opportunities to maximize lead generation and engage new
segments
- Update and maintain the CRM and relevant tools in a timely
manner to ensure high standards of data integrity, as well as
up-to-date data capture to generate accurate reports at frequencies
as requested
- Engages in deep scientific discussions with clients about
pipeline programs and key needs for clinical trial programs.
- Maintains a strong scientific acumen and understands emerging
technologies and platforms in flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry
(IHC), next generation sequencing and plate-based assays.
- Provides general intelligence on key competitors, and the
clinical trial market.
- Other duties as assigned by management
- Required travel 30%, extended work hours may be required to
meet sales demand
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of analytical biomarker techniques including but not
limited to flow cytometry, IHC and next generation sequencing
- Knowledge of GCLP and understanding of regulatory requirements
is a plus
- Established and relevant network within the biopharma space is
required
- Advanced industry knowledge, specifically in flow cytometry,
IHC and next generation sequencing
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize in a
fast-paced environment
- Strong leadership skills, contributing to a positive,
collaborative working environment
- Strong critical and strategic thinking skills
- Ability to manage difficult client and/or financial
situations
- Strong working relationship with internal Champions management
and site leadership
- Demonstrated ability to acquire and grow client base
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Sales
Force and other systems as required
Education and Experience:
- PhD and 5-7+ years of relevant sales experience in the sales of
analytical biomarker services to biopharma organizations
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time using a computer
in a typical office environment in a multi-level facility
