The Sup, Health Info Release manages the daily activities and operations of the HI Analysts in Health Information for Release of Information (ROI). Knowledgeable of Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) policies and procedures for release of medical records and health information. Works cooperatively with the HMH ROI Network Manager in the implementation of the network's strategies for ROI. Responsible for ensuring medical record release fulfills the request and is in compliance with CMS, NJDOH, HIPAA and HMH policies and procedures for release of medical records. Serves as the formal resource for team members and acts as the liaison for the ROI vendor.
This position covers locations within our northern region, including Hackensack Univeristy Medical Center and Palisades Medical Center.
Responsibilities
A day in the life of aSupervisor, Health Information Releaseat Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

• 
  Provides oversight and supervision of the activities of the ROI team members.
  
  
• 
  Responsible for ensuring adequate training and education is received by the ROI team members.
  
  
• 
  Prepare and conduct performance reviews for team members with oversight by the ROI network manager.
  
  
• 
  Communicates to the ROI Network Manager on team members' performance and identifies training opportunities.
  
  
• 
  Provides feedback and makes recommendations for progressive disciplinary actions and team member recognition.
  
  
• 
  Handle all requests for chart reviews, departmental studies and audits including but not limited to regulatory agencies and insurance companies.
  
  
• 
  Works closely with Legal, Compliance, Risk Management, Office of the Patient Experience and Hospital Billing for medical record requests.
  
  
• 
  Monitors the daily workload by making sure the work queues in Epic are maintained and completed within turnaround time.
  
  
• 
  Supervises and coordinates prompt responses to requests for copies of charts, secures and maintains a log of all sensitive records as determined by the Risk Management Department.
  
  
• 
  Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  
  
• 
  Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
  
  
  Qualifications
  Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  
  • 
    
  • 
    High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
    
    
  • 
    Minimum of 3 years supervisory position in the Health Information Department.
    
    
  • 
    Proficient in computer skills.
    
    
  • 
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    
    
  • 
    Proficient computer skills such as Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms.
    
    
    Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
    
    • 
      
    • Associates Degree in Health Information Management (HIM) or health related field.
