Job Opportunity Job Summary The Cat Scan Technologist performs
computer tomography procedures and related techniques, generating
sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation and
aiding in interventional and therapeutic procedures. Essential Job
Functions - Perform complex CT procedures with precision and
professionalism. - Use professional judgment to review and obtain
the patient's clinical history, ensuring that all information is
documented and scanned into the PACS system. - Prepare, screen, and
review the accuracy of the contrast questionnaire with the patient
and/or family members, ensuring it is scanned into EPIC. - Identify
and administer contrast media related to CT exams as prescribed by
licensed practitioners. - Review patient prescriptions to verify
the appropriateness of exams and communicate with Radiologists and
Referring Physicians for any necessary clarification or additional
information. - Contact physicians to clarify prescriptions in
accordance with the appropriate CT protocols. - Verify insurance
authorization for the exam and send modification forms to Finance
for re-verification. - Obtain outside studies (CD) and schedule
them in EPIC, ensuring availability in PACS for Radiologist
comparison. - Provide exam copies to patients and requesting
physicians or family members. - Evaluate radiographs using the PACS
System to ensure proper identification and diagnostic value. -
Gather relevant information from medical records, patients, and
healthcare providers to prepare scanning protocols with a focus on
patient safety. - Assess whether patients are appropriately
prepared for procedures. - Prepare patients for scanning, including
shielding and the use of immobilization devices. - Determine the
appropriate type and dosage of contrast media to be administered. -
Provide clear explanations and instructions to patients, addressing
their questions and concerns regarding procedures. Document
interactions as needed. - Perform venipuncture, IV patency checks,
and maintenance procedures according to established guidelines. -
Monitor patients' physical conditions for adverse reactions during
procedures. - Commit to scheduled shifts, including weekends and
holidays, and perform overtime as necessary to ensure quality
patient care. - Lift a minimum of 25 lbs., push and pull a minimum
of 50 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 6 hours daily. - Identify
and address the specific needs of the patient population served,
including considerations of age, culture, language, and
disabilities. - Communicate effectively with patients, parents, and
caregivers at their appropriate developmental or educational
levels. - Adhere to hospital policies regarding employee ID,
standards of behavior, attendance, and punctuality. Required Skills
& Experience - Comprehensive knowledge of human anatomy,
physiology, and radiological positioning. - Understanding of
mechanical attributes of CT software and hardware. - Thorough
knowledge of the PACS system. - Maintain CEU credits. - Achieve
ARRT (CT) certification within twelve months of hire. - American
Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within
three months of hire. Preferred Skills & Experience - Six months of
CT experience preferred. - Knowledge of Epic and any HIS/RIS
systems utilized by the hospital. Education Required Education -
Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technologist program. -
High School diploma or equivalent. Preferred Education - N/A
Required Certifications & Licensure - New Jersey DEP Diagnostic
Radiography License. - ARRT Certified R.T. (R) license required. -
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Preferred Certifications & Licensure - ARRT certified R.T. (CT)
license preferred. Schedule Notes Evening shifts: 3:00 PM - 11:30
PM, 5 days a week, every third weekend, and holidays as needed. No
