Medical Center is looking for a Registered Nurse. Job Duties
Assessment, treatment and patient care responsibilities are
delivered with a knowledge of patient growth and development and
are appropriate to the ages of the patients served. ASSESSMENT
Identifies and documents initial observation and assessment of the
patient's needs for immediate nursing action. Systematically and
accurately assesses nursing needs of the patient to detect
pertinent changes in the clinical picture. Asses the needs of
patient’s family or significant others regarding the patient’s
direct or extended care. Performs nursing assessment, vital signs,
and health rooming screenings prior to provider exams. Administered
medications, injections, and treatment per provider order and scope
of practice. Collects, selects, plans, evaluates all pertinent data
and documents care based on this assessment. Assesses, intervenes,
and documents appropriately to meet patient's educational,
psychosocial, and discharge planning needs appropriate to
outpatient care and effectiveness. Initiates appropriate referrals
to other departments, services, and/or outside agencies for patient
care. DIRECT PATIENT CARE Gives comprehensive, confidential patient
care. Initiates and follows through with patient and family
teaching and evaluation. Consults with unit Nursing Leadership
regarding significant changes in patient's condition. Collaborates
with all members of the health care team. Communicates relevant
patient care information upon in house transfer. Utilizes patient
care standards in clinical practice. Documents pertinent
information regarding patient's response to treatment and
progression toward goals in patient's chart. Transcribes outpatient
physician orders, gives written and verbal instructions to patient
and/or significant others and documents in patient chart accurately
and timely. Seeks clarification of physician's written
prescriptions and orders that are unclear Assist administrative
staff with coordination of patient medication refills Assist
administrative staff with all patient medical inquiries requiring
clinical guidance Interprets clinical data and notifies the
physician promptly if immediate changes in management are
indicated. Assist administrative staff with coordination patient
medication refill requests Administers either IM, PO or
subcutaneous medications in compliance with policies and procedures
and does teaching with patient, family, and significant other
(e.g., signs and symptoms of medication, food and drug interaction,
physical, psychosocial and nutrition in accordance to cultural
needs). SAFETY Checks to ensure that emergency equipment is on hand
and in good working order. Ensures compliance with daily audits of
medication refrigerators, crash cart, humidity temperature and all
equipment necessitating documentation of daily check Recognizes and
reports malfunction or failure of equipment used in the area to
Biomedical Engineering; takes appropriate action to repair/replace
such equipment (e.g., cardiac monitors, defibrillators, suction
apparatus, doppler, O2 tank, liquid nitrogen tank, laser equipment,
CO2 tank, pulse oximetry and pacemaker). Checks that all monitoring
equipment (e.g., code cart) is set according to standards. Checks
that policy and procedure of proper handling of sharps is followed
strictly and consistently. INDIRECT PATIENT CARE ACTIVITIES
Facilitates multidisciplinary plans of care and evaluation. Applies
principles of infection control and safety. Assists in the
orientation and competency of new personnel. Provides clinical
supervision of Medical Assistants, and other ancillary staff.
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures,
objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and
infection control standards; promote adherence to Patient Bill of
Rights. Maintains all medical supplies and Medication par levels.
Works with ACC Leadership on supplies (instrumentation and
medications) requisition and approval Conducts hand hygiene and
medical record audits for compliance and reports opportunities for
improvement Conducts room audits for compliance with safety and
infection control practices Customer Service: respect, flexibility,
knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude,
patience, and helpfulness. All responses should be timely,
professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with Customer
Service Performance expectations. Understands and adheres to the
Medical Center’s Code of Conduct. Familiar with the Medical
Center’s Mission, Vision, and Values Statements. Other Duties
Assists in data collection and analysis of Quality Assurance/CQI
monitors; participates in implementation of follow up action.
Participates in all regulatory /environmental tracers Supports ACC
leadership on all regulatory follow up actions Effectively utilizes
the hospital computer system as it pertains to job responsibilities
and in accordance with hospital policy. Participates actively on
Quality Improvement committees as assigned. Participates in all
safety and hazard procedures. Assists other personnel as needed.
Keeps up to date with current trends pertinent to outpatient
services. Participates in continuing education activities; attends
scheduled in-service programs; shares information gained at
conferences with colleagues. Participates in community related
services such as Influenza campaign (influenza vaccine
administration) Performs other duties as assigned to support the
overall objectives of the department and organization. Attends
monthly staff meetings. Participates in orientation of newly hired
employees. Position Qualifications Education: BSN required, or
proof of enrollment in an accredited BSN program with completion
expected within three (3) years of start date. Please note that
selection of the candidate for any position will depend on several
factors, including the individual’s educational background, skills,
and professional experience. Current NJ license as RN or temporary
permit to practice in New Jersey required Wound care experience
preferred. Experience: One year of acute ambulatory clinic and/or
community nursing experience preferred. Wound care experience
preferred. Skills Clinical nursing skills for a RN. Good oral and
written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills. Speaks,
reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.
Second language a plus. Good organizational skills with
comprehensive time management. Job Setting/Physical Demands All
patient care areas. Frequently prolonged standing/walking. Lifts,
positions, pushes, and/or transfers patients. Protective clothing
worn: face shield, gloves, impermeable gown, particulate
respirator. Checks that policy and procedure of properly handling
of sharps is followed strictly and consistency. Salary commensurate
with experience within posted range: $46.94-$66.43 DIFFERENTIALS:
WEEKEND $2.25 PER HR EVE DIFF- 10% NIGHT 12% /CHARGE PAY $2.25 PER
