Job Description JOB DESCRIPTION Title: Customer Service
Representative - LIHEAP Reports to : VP, Community Engagement FLSA:
Non-Exempt Position Summary: Under the supervisor of the VP,
Community Engagement, the Customer Service Representative completes
clerical work and provides customer services to the general
population as well as that portion of the population seeking Home
Energy assistance. Job Responsibilities: Prepares list of clients
applying for assistance. Prepares and sends application packages to
clients. Files applications upon receipt. Conducts interview of
client applying for assistance and completes application when
needed. Submits requests for emergencies to the manager for payment
approval. Maintains record on a monthly basis of number applicants,
number of applications received and number of applications coded
and non-coded. Maintains record of number of emergency assistance
entered in the system. Determines eligibility for other utility
assistance programs available at the time of application. Provides
information and referrals for other social services when needed.
Responsible to learn the application process for other programs
within the department such as NJ Shares, Rental Assistance and
Weatherization. Qualifications: Must be a high school graduate. Two
years of customer service experience preferred. Bilingual
preferred. Ability to multi-task with a keen eye on organization.
Must have exceptional interpersonal skills. Must be fluent with
technology, including phone systems, Microsoft applications, and
database usage. Ability to learn new systems quickly. Ability to
assist a high volume of clients. Persons with mental or physical

may not be eligible. Work Environment This job operates in a
professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard
office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and
smartphones. Physical Demands The physical demands described here
are representative of those that must be met by an employee to
successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While
performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly
required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by
this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This
would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and
bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Position Type/Expected Hours
of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are
Monday through Friday, 7 hour shift. Occasional evening and weekend
work may be required as job duties demand. Travel Travel is
primarily local during the business day, although some
out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected. AAP/EEO
