submission. Purpose: The Director, Scientific Computing Operations
is a people leader responsible for the strategy, delivery,
adoption, and operational excellence of scientific computing,
analytics, and AI?enabled platforms that underpin Statistics &
Decision Sciences (SDS) and Quantitative Sciences and Clinical
Pharmacology (QSCP) decision?making. This role owns the end?to?end
lifecycle of scientific computing platforms and solution
architecture, ensuring scalability, regulatory readiness, security,
and alignment with enterprise technology and business priorities.
The Director represents SDS on cross?functional and enterprise
working groups and partners closely with leaders and colleagues
across Strategic Business and Computing Operations (SBCO), SDS,
QSCP, Clinical & Statistical Programming, Global Development,
Enterprise IT, and Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine R&D to
enable alignment, transparency, and shared accountability. This
leader operates with a strong enterprise mindset, translating
complex scientific and business needs into coherent, sustainable
technology strategies that deliver measurable impact Y ou will be
responsible for : Platform, Architecture & Infrastructure
Ownership: Provide enterprise leadership for the design,
documentation, governance, and lifecycle management of scientific
computing, analytics, and AI platforms. Own infrastructure
investment planning across cloud and high?performance computing
environments, balancing scalability, cost efficiency, reliability,
and long?term sustainability for advanced analytics and AI
workloads. Ensure platforms are validated, secure,
regulatory?ready, and compliant, and establish standards and best
practices that enable interoperable, resilient solutions Scientific
Computing & Solution Architecture Leadership: Define and evolve
scientific computing, analytics, and solution architecture
strategies aligned with SDS priorities and R&D objectives. Lead
multi?year technology and infrastructure roadmaps, providing
authoritative architectural direction that strengthens flexibility,
stability, usability, and long?term sustainability. Translate
complex scientific and operational needs into coherent technology
strategies and operating plans, advising senior leadership on
opportunities to enhance interoperability and platform
effectiveness. Technology Innovation & Value Realization: Advance
innovation in scientific computing, automation, and analytics by
identifying, evaluating, and scaling emerging technologies. Convert
innovation into operational capabilities that improve decision
quality, productivity, and efficiency. Guide the application of
advanced analytics, scenario planning, and quantitative insights to
enable strategic decision?making and sustained scientific and
business value. Advanced Analytics, AI, ML & Emerging Technology :
Lead enablement of AI, machine learning, advanced analytics, and
decision intelligence capabilities across SDS and QSCP. Establish
and enforce functional governance, standards, and end?to?end
lifecycle management for analytics and AI solutions. Ensure
capabilities are ethical, transparent, explainable, secure, and
compliant for use in regulated R&D environments. Stakeholder
Management : Engage stakeholders and build strong relationships
with internal and external partners to communicate and support
technology strategy. Prepare and present reports and dashboards to
senior leadership, offering insights on the technology roadmap,
solutions, and adoption. Operational Management & Compliance:
Oversee vendors, budgets, performance, risk, and compliance for
scientific computing platforms and initiatives. Ensure
inspection?ready delivery through validated systems, documented
processes, required training, and adherence to SOPs and quality
standards. Ensure compliance and quality for self and team,
complete necessary SOPs, training, job aids, track project time,
and deliver timely, high-quality results. Qualifications /
Requirements: Education: Minimum of a Master’s degree in Computer
Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
with 12 years of experience is required Ph.D in Computer Science,
Data Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field with 10
years of experience is preferred Required: Demonstrated leadership
of scientific computing platforms, solution architecture, and
enabling technologies across infrastructure, AI/ML, and advanced
analytics. Deep knowledge of enterprise computing architectures
(cloud and/or HPC), data pipeline, analytics ecosystems, and
platform governance, with sufficient technical fluency and
programming literacy (e.g., Python, R, SAS or similar) to guide and
evaluate solutions. Proven track record delivering measurable
outcomes through technology adoption, organizational change, and
platform scaling in regulated R&D environments. Skilled in
leading cross-functional teams and managing initiatives involving
multiple stakeholders. Excellent communication and influencing
skills with senior stakeholders. Ability to operate effectively in
a fast?paced environment with sound judgment and minimal
supervision. Ability to travel between J&J sites both domestic
and international at least 10% is required. Preferred: Minimum of
4-6 years of people leadership (includes indirect / matrixed
leadership) in complex, global organizations The anticipated base
pay range for this position in the US is $164,000 to $282,900. The
compensation and benefits information set forth in this posting
applies to candidates hired in the United States. Candidates hired
outside the United States will be eligible for compensation and
benefits in accordance with their local market. The Company
maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation
programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for
an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the
applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus
intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results
by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over
a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s
discretion on an individual basis. Subject to the terms of their
