Our client, a prominent law firm with offices throughout New
Jersey, has an immediate need for an experienced Personal Injury
Paralegal, to join their winning team in Hackensack.
Our candidate of choice will assist with everything from clerical
duties such as answering phones to supporting lawyers in the
litigation and legal process of each case.
Understand medical terminology, common injuries, and basic human
Assist with personal injury claims, including discovery and
Interview and screen prospective clients.
Communicating with clients, law offices, insurance adjusters,
medical offices, and experts.
Assist in preparing for depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and
Prepare and file complaints, motions, briefs, and arbitration
statements; prepare special packages, discovery demands, and
answers to interrogatories. Review the discovery provided and
summarize deposition testimony.
Compose e-mails and correspondence.
Monitor deadlines and be proficient in maintaining the law office
Prepare disbursement of settlement funds and request checks from
the accounting department
Answering inquiries from potential new clients
Preparing witnesses and clients for depositions.
Make travel arrangements for attorneys.
Transcribing legal documents, if applicable.
Scheduling court hearings, depositions, and other proceedings.
General knowledge of the medical field and insurance policies is
needed in everyday tasks as a personal injury paralegal.
Investigative skills are valued, as you may need to take photos of
a scene, interview witnesses, and obtain more information on your

Trial preparation and expertise is important if a settlement can't

At least 5 years of working experience as a legal assistant or
legal secretary in the Personal Injury and or Workers Compensation
on the Plaintiff side.
Familiarity with New Jersey e-courts, NJ Courts rules and legal
Knowledge of day-to-day operations and law operations.
Computer Literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites,
SmartAdvocate or Cases Management systems and Scanning.
Bilingual in English/Spanish - fluency in writing and oral.
Possess advanced secretarial and administrative skills.
Able to multitask and handle an average of 150 cases in support of
the PI team.
Must possess a minimum High School or GED equivalent with a
Paralegal Certificate or and associate degree, Bachelor's
