Description: Title: Title: Supervisor- Neuro-Surgical ICU Alias Job Title: Supervisor NSICU Job Classification: Professional FLSA: X Exempt Non-Exempt Date Revised: Number of Openings: Leader/Team member Leadership Team Member GENERAL SUMMARY The Neuro Surgical ICU Supervisor reports to the Director of NSICU and performs a dual role. He/She provides direct patient care and consultation and performs education research activities and clinical supervision.The lead plays an integral role in oversight of the NSICU team inclusive of training and scheduling to support the NSICU department. Essential Functions Enter Essential Functions Clinical Practice: Clinical practice and critical thinking accurately reflects code of ethics, the New Jersey department of health requirements, jcaho and institutional policies and procedures which provides for effective and safe patient/customer outcomes. Consultation/Collaboration Works as a team member: Accepts referrals from all units of the hospital and collaborates with physicians, nurses and other members of the health care team in patient care planning. Demonstrates resource capability within the institution through the use of other disciplines. Utilizes principles of communication and change of theory to establish positive working relationships with nursing and medical center departments to accomplish the goals of meridian health system. Functions as an educator to patients and families: Facilitates patient teaching and support programs for patients/families in area of expertise. Effective Leadership - Influences the activities of an individual or group toward goal setting and achievement by serving as a role model. Works with Director to establish clear objectives tied to the department and/or organizational strategic goals. Identifies areas requiring clinical study for performance improvement. Patient Care: Promotes continuity of patient care within the institution from admittance to discharge, by working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team. Acts as a role model by demonstrating current trends in patient care management. Follows Universal Precautions. Researcher - Acts in the capacity of researcher and incorporates activities into daily work.: Regularly incorporates new scientific findings into educational programs and/or clinical practice unit in area of expertise. Identifies areas requiring clinical study for performance improvement. Actively participates in the research process and utilizes the information to further enhance the quality of patient care. Completes documentation in a timely basis. GENERAL SUMMARY Responsible for continuing education and expanding job knowledge.: Demonstrates an ability to function as an expert clinical resource, providing professional development opportunities for a new team member, undergraduate or graduate Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. Independently participates in continuing education and maintains documentation. Develops a personal plan of development in area of clinical expertise, conferring with PA's & APNS on goals and objectives. Work flow - Responsible for the coordination and scheduling of APNS in the department to maintain proper coverage also for allowing for PTO and CME. People Management: Manages and/or assists in the recruitment, development and supervision of team members. Creates and sustains an environment that fosters team member engagement. Establishes clear objectives tied to department and/or organizational strategic goals. Coaches, counsels and evaluates performance of direct reports. Financial Management: Involved in the development and/or management of budget for assigned areas. Regularly monitors relevant key financial indicators and performance metrics, modifying business activities where needed in response to changing financial situations. Data Management and Analytics: Track, analyze, and report on relevant data and metrics as needed and/or requested. Develop, recommend and/or implement actions or process improvements as appropriate. Other Duties as Assigned: Complete all other assigned duties and projects in a timely fashion.
