This GIS Coordinator provides technical expertise using Geographic
Information System (GIS) and related systems to improve business
efficiency for operations. Responsible for supporting all the
departments of the operation by maintaining the GIS system.
Accountable for daily, weekly, and quarterly GIS maintenance for
the GIS system. In addition, this position will ensure the GIS
activities are aligned with the corporate GIS vision and standards.
Responsible for maintaining the NJ GPS program for all operations
under BU 100.Key Job Responsibilities:
- Provides innovative uses of the GIS systems to improve
workforce efficiency and optimize the management of
information
- Ensures that GIS is meeting the ongoing operational needs of
the Company through interaction with end users to ensure
operational needs are advanced.
- Trains field and other personnel on the use and applications of
GIS and other technical support systems
- Adhere to standards for GIS systems, including but not limited
to databases, applications, and training programs
- Produce GIS files and outputs for mapping, engineering
projects, and presentations
- Enhances and promotes the utilization of GIS through technical
support for other team members on a daily basis
- Maintain the GIS data files through routine maintenance
activities such as reconcile and post, verify external database
links, update MXDs, and publish hosted feature services
- Maintain GPS collection efforts by meeting goals set by
department while working with contractors, internal staff, or
others who would be collecting GPS data for BU 100
- Enhance SUEZ New Jersey GIS by integrating it with new data
sources
- Assist in the implementation of new ways for end-users to
consume GIS data such has via other applications, tablets, smart
phones, other future ways
- Manage raster and vector data, perform spatial analyses
including queries, create layers, define coordinate systems, join
and relate database files, import excel files and create map points
from the data within them
- Ensure the company digital system information, distribution
system asset database and system maps are accurately updated and
kept current.Qualifications
Education:Bachelor's degree in Geographical Information Systems,
Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Data
Management, or related field Experience Needed:
- Minimum 3-7 years of GIS mapping and development preferably in
a utility environment
- Minimum 3-5 years of ESRI experienceSpecial Skills/Abilities
Needed:
- In-depth knowledge of ESRI's products including ArcGIS,
ArcSDE/Geodatabases, ArcGIS
- Online and Portal, Commercial grade GPS units (i.e. Trimble,
etc.)
- Ability to work with ESRI's web development tools such as
ArcGIS Developer, APIs, ArcPy
- Experience in editing and querying databases, building
descriptive and cartographically sound maps, geocoding, and spatial
analysis
- Experience in interpreting as-built drawing sets
- Sound knowledge of tools that ensure data integrity such as
Data Reviewer and Attribute Assistant
- Knowledge of Python programming preferred, but not
required
- Knowledge of CMMS applications such as Infor, Clevest, and
Ligo
- Experience building and maintaining geometric networks or
utility networks
- Experience using and building ESRI mobile apps such as
Collector, Survey 123, Explorer, and Navigator
- The ability to solve operational problems and increase
efficiency using GIS data analytics
- Excellent analytical, organizational, computer and
interpersonal skills
- Valid State driver's license
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Access,
Microsoft SQL Server
- Ability to understand and incorporate data from external
sources into GIS platforms.
