1 Handles and serves residents in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort, adhering to instructions issued by the nursing supervisor and or charge nurse to establish shift routines2 Performs duties in accordance with established methods and techniques and in conformance with recognized standards3 Provides maximum resident care services within limits defined by delegated tasks4 Assumes responsibility for varied resident care duties as assigned by charge nurse to include admitting, discharging, transferring and caring for the resident's personal belongings and assisting the professional nurse in performing resident treatments5 Bathes the resident in bed, tub or shower, combs hair, cleans and cuts fingernails and gives shampoos6 Makes both occupied and unoccupied beds7 Assist with self medications8 Verifies that all residents have wrist bands, medication, picture, and door tags9 Accompanies residents when transported outside facility for appointments as needed10 Assists the charge nurse during the resident admission assessment11 Participates in the formulation and follow through of the resident's nursing care plan12 Takes and records weights, blood pressures, temperatures, pulse and respiration13 Assists all residents with their meals and provides in between meal nourishment, as well as providing fresh ice and water to the resident's bedside14 Answers resident's call light or bell, delivers messages, administers bedpans and urinals, cleans areas of spillage or accidents caused by the resident15 Participates in the orientation of new nursing assistants16 Reports any/all changes in resident's condition, any family concerns and resident's complaints to charge nurse and/or supervisor17 Collects and bags soiled linen and delivers to dirty linen area; if assigned, washes and dries items in domestic washer/drier18 Obtains clean linens and supplies from supply areas as directed, cleans utility rooms, kitchen areas and all other nursing areas, as assigned19 Cleans and sanitizes resident equipment20 Receives and escorts visitors, collects, charts, records and reports21 Transfers resident's belongings and equipment as directed, and assists with postmortem care22 Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights23 Assists with treatments and vitals, as necessary24 Performs other duties as requested. -Additional Duties:1 Interacts with residents, families, visitors and employees2 He/she carries out other tasks as requested in situations where hands-on intervention/participation may be required

1 Must be in good physical and mental health2 Must have knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering simple treatments and providing related bedside resident care services3 Must pay attention to safety hazards to residents and self4 Must be familiar with location of various departments and regulations of the facility5 Must understand standard techniques used in providing personal services for residents and in caring for equipment and supplies6 Must have a good understanding of basic medical asepsis, sterile techniques and universal precautions to avoid infection of residents and self-contamination of equipment and supplies7 May be required to work rotating shifts and to work in different units as residents needs require; specific scheduling will be under the direction of the nursing supervisor8 Must possess the ability to positively interact with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public9 Must provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test
