Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:Independently develops flavors in accordance
with legislative and customer guidelines. Manage the development of
sweet flavors with a focus on bakery and wellness. This includes
flavor creation, duplication, and selection of flavors to be sent
to customers. Performs continuous formula optimization for costs,
performance, and production efficiencies. Improves and expands the
flavor portfolio by the creation and introduction of new flavor
profiles.The person filling this position must be personable,
cooperative, and supportive of all associates in the lab. Must be
technically competent with a knowledge of raw materials and
compounding techniques. Ability to supervise and educate and advise
technicians. Must be respectful of keeping all company information
confidential.SPECIFIC DUTIES.Responsible for the timely processing
of all projects. Develops flavors as outlined by an approved
technical project using GRAS and FDA approved ingredients.Functions
as an internal resource in the use of basic raw materials and
provides an understanding of material functionality.Develops
flavors based on market trends to give Lucta a competitive
advantage in the marketplace.Help create a strong technical image
by supporting local and global Innovation Teams and Business
Units.Act as a contact between the flavor laboratory and the sales
force, customers, and other departments of Lucta.Oversees
first-time production of new flavors or critical flavors in
production while resolving and troubleshooting any technical or
formulae related issues that may arise.Manages and trains (lab
technicians and trainees) in the areas of flavor development,
compounding, and basic lab procedures.Establishes correct
nomenclature for newly developed flavors consistent with local
regulations and requirements.Works closely with Procurement,
Business Units, Regulatory, Analytical, Operations and Quality
Control to develop successful products.JOB QUALIFICATIONS:B.S. in
Science discipline is required. Strong knowledge of flavor and raw
materials. Basic flavor regulatory knowledge of FEMA, GRAS and FDA
CFR21.At least 2 years minimum of flavor development/formulation
experience after successfully completing trainee program, with
knowledge of U.S. and international flavor regulations. Must have
passed the SFC Certified Membership Exam.Ability to identify
technical problems related to developing flavor/systems and
troubleshoot these issues.Knowledge of Flavor Development and
Flavor processing best practice inclusive of testing protocols.

have a basic understanding of food ingredients, essentials oils,
botanical extracts, chemical/molecules and other specialty aromatic
ingredients and their application in development.Good
communication, interpersonal skills. The ability to document
project work, project management abilities and computer literacy
are required. A basic knowledge of flavor production, product
applications, market trends and understanding of laboratory
