They operate and maintain electrophysiology equipment, assist in EP procedures, and ensure patient safety throughout the process. The EP Technologist plays a crucial role in the EP lab, providing technical expertise and support to ensure the success of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.Key Responsibilities:1. Assist in EP Procedures: - Prepare and position patients for electrophysiology studies and ablations. - Assist the electrophysiologist during procedures, including catheter placements and device implantations. - Monitor patient vitals and ECG signals throughout the procedure. - Administer medications and contrast agents as directed.2. Equipment Operation and Maintenance: - Set up, calibrate, and operate EP lab equipment, including electroanatomical mapping systems, defibrillators, and ablation generators. - Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment to ensure optimal performance. - Maintain a clean and organized lab environment.3. Patient Care and Safety: - Educate patients and their families about the EP procedure, potential risks, and post-procedure care. - Ensure all safety protocols are followed to minimize the risk of infection and complications. - Provide pre- and post-procedural care, including wound care and monitoring for adverse reactions.4. Documentation and Reporting: - Accurately document all aspects of the procedure, including patient information, procedure details, and equipment settings. - Generate and maintain patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations. - Report any equipment malfunctions or procedural complications to the appropriate personnel.5. Collaboration and Communication: - Work closely with cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care. - Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and continuous education sessions. - Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members to provide clear instructions and updates.
