Area YMCA is seeking a part-time Mental Health Program Specialist
to support the Mental Health department with the implementation of
mental health prevention and intervention programs. For years, the
Raritan Bay Area YMCA has been a cornerstone of the Perth Amboy

Development, and Social Responsibility. The Y’s Mental Health
Services Department is dedicated to addressing the critical need
for accessible, high-quality mental and behavioral health services,
as well as social support, for individuals of all ages. Under the
supervision of the Director of Mental Health Services, the Mental
Health Program Specialist will be responsible for overseeing
program recruitment, conducting participant assessments and
screenings, managing cases, delivering individual and group
programming and curricula, and coordinating various programs and
events. While demonstrating a commitment to the YMCA's core values

Health Program Specialist will also be passionate about mental
health and well-being; exhibit exceptional empathy, cultural
competence, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse,
multilingual community. Essential Duties: Learn and deliver various
program curricula such as Strengthening Families, Overcoming
Obstacles, and Skills to Pay the Bills. Facilitate the recruitment
of program participants including responding to calls and inquiries
from potential program participants in a respectful and
professional manner and engaging in networking and marketing
efforts. Coordinate and prepare for meetings and events including
room reservation, set-up and breakdown. Utilize electronic health
record, internal and external programs/software to create and
submit assigned documentation in a timely, accurate manner
including but not limited to time sheets, progress and group notes.
Conduct initial basic screenings and assessments for program
participants. Engage with program participants weekly to support
the realization of Individual Success Plans, Treatment Plans and
Goal Achievement. Support event coordination and execution for
Department of Mental Health Services such as marketing/tabling
events, fairs and presentations. Facilitate the creation of an
environment that fosters physical and emotional safety for program
participants and families. Responsible for other duties, as
assigned. Position Details: Hourly non-exempt: 15-25 hours per
week. Typical hours vary. Some evenings and weekends will be

Requirements: Previous experience working with children and
families. Appropriate education and/or experience, may include an
Associates or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or
college, or one to three years of related experience. Obtain and
successfully pass state and federal criminal background check via
fingerprinting. Utilization of Electronic Health Record System and
other data entry systems. Reliable and punctual with ability to
complete independent tasks while being part of the collaborate team
and effort. Language Skills - Spanish and English bilingual a plus.
Excellent written and verbal/nonverbal abilities in languages.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all
social and economic segments of the community. Exemplary cultural
